22nd July, 2009

British Airways gained 2.5% yesterday as Goldman Sachs raised its rating on the carrier from “sell” to “buy”, citing signs of stabilisation in the carrier’s revenue. BA also announced it is considering further capacity reductions, which will be announced next week.

Shares in Austrian Airlines dipped 2.4% yesterday, as the European Commission (EC) again failed to resolve the terms of its proposed takeover by Lufthansa. Lufthansa’s shares were up 1.9%, as shareholders indicated again they are wary of another acquisition by the carrier.
