Could NextGen costs hit USD160 billion?

The satellite revolution in US air traffic control could be more costly than previously realised. A recent report by the US Government Accountability Office (GAO) has highlighted a US FAA Joint Planning and Development Office (JPDO) estimate that suggests the cost of full implementation of NextGen could run as high as USD160 billion. That is a fourfold increase over the current estimates, which have already been criticised as too high. [1492 words]
