Composed of over 17,000 islands, of which some 6,000 are inhabited, and with a fast growing population now exceeding 240 million, Indonesia is a country with a very strong natural requirement for air services. Since the Indonesian Government set out some years ago to liberalise the country’s air services arrangements, not surprisingly there has been rapid growth in the number of Indonesian-based airlines operating both domestic and international services, and a massive uptake of flight opportunities by Indonesia’s people.
