Aéroports de Paris (AdP) reports passenger numbers across the group’s airports increased by 3.3% year-on-year to 7.5 million, with 5.2 million at Paris-Charles de Gaulle (+3.5%) and 2.3 million at Paris-Orly (+3.0%). This was a welcome resumption of the growth trend following significant ash-related reductions in Apr-2010.

Growth was led by international traffic (excluding Europe), which rose by 5.3%. Except Latin America, all market sectors recorded growth: Africa (+5.7%), North America (+5.5%), Latin America (-1.7%), the Middle East (+13.8%), Asia Pacific (+4.4%) and French overseas territories (+0.3%).
European traffic (excluding France) grew by 2.3%. Traffic within the Schengen area increased by 2.8%. Great Britain and Ireland markets dropped by 8.5% affected by British Airways strikes and the impact of the Icelandic volcanic ash cloud at the beginning of the month. Traffic within metropolitan France was 1.9% up.
The number of connecting passengers decreased by 4.3%, resulting in a connecting rate of 22.1% (against 23.5% in May-2009).
AdP’s shares fell 0.8% yesterday, while Fraport rose 0.6%.
