BALPA: Tentative welcome to BMI regional purchase

Direct News Source

10-May-2012 The British Airline Pilots' Association (BALPA) has given a tentative welcome to the news that bmi Regional has been sold to a Scottish consortium, Sector Aviation Holdings.

Jim McAuslan, BALPA's General Secretary, said, 'On the face of it this looks to be good news. That said, we've been in a similar position before but we are hopeful that this time is different.

'The last five months have been purgatory for pilots in bmi Regional not knowing what the future holds, and it remains purgatory for pilots in bmi Baby who are facing the prospect of the closure of that airline.

'We are looking forward to working with the new management, including the Bond family who are already involved in various aviation businesses which brings a new and extra dimension.

'We want to help the new owners ensure that bmi Regional is a safe and profitable airline and a good employer both in Aberdeen and around the UK.'
