19-May-2012 - Montenegrin air carrier Montenegro Airlines hosted the meeting which gathered four regional airlines from the territory of the former Yugoslavia.

The meeting was attended by:

  • Mr. Klemen Boštjančič - President of Adria Airways,
  • Mr. Vladimir Ognjenović -Director General of JAT Airways,
  • Mr. Srećko Šimunović -CEO of Croatia Airlinesa, and
  • Mr. Zoran Đurišić - President of Montenegro Airlines.

On this occasion, the President of Montenegro Airlines, dr Zoran Đurišić stated that the idea to bring together the four leaders of airlines in countries of the former Yugoslavia has proven its sustainability.

"Last night and today we had detailed discussions, which were highly constructive. We exchanged experiences in the airlines' functioning and shared the challenges we are facing. We also defined concrete ideas how to respond to such challenges.
We are glad that this is the first meeting in the future series of this type of meetings. It has been already agreed to hold the second meeting next month", said dr Đurišić.

The leaders of national air carriers were very pleased to be present at the meeting. Although the common goals are to be established, the challenges facing airlines are already well-known.

CEOs of the four regional air companies agree that the conditions of the operating environment are highly difficult, even besides the increase in the number of carried passengers. That is caused by high fuel prices, high costs of air traffic control services, airport services and handling costs. They all agreed that these are the limitation factors for the development of each company.

In making efforts to find the common solution, the participants of the meeting agreed as follows:

  1. Future collaboration is welcome and the companies have to cooperate because they are present and operating in the same region.
  2. The cooperation may include further promotion of already established cooperation at the level of Code-Share Agreements, SPA Agreements, Interline Agreements, and accordingly, continue in terms of mutual fleet sharing subject to the needs of companies, which would maximise the utilization of individual capacities.
  3. Harmonisation and development of flight schedule, connecting the current routes and possible joint launching of new routes.
  4. Joint approach to regulatory bodies, as well as harmonizing activities concerning the procurement of fuel, aircraft equipment, technology development, etc., with a view to cut the costs of business operations.

To that end, in the following two weeks, work groups shall be formed in order to implement the ideas agreed on the meeting.

With conclusion that the meeting was highly constructive and useful for all participants, it was agreed to hold the meeting with the same participants in one month from now.
