Tianjin Airport's second runway project nears completion

Tianjin Binhai International Airport’s CNY1.5 billion (USD213 million) second runway project is progressing well and is scheduled to commence operations on 01-May-09. The project includes the construction of a 3,200 x 45 m runway, a 3,200 x 23 m taxiway and a 5,000 sqm air traffic control tower. The air traffic control tower is scheduled to be completed by the end of Apr-2009, enabling an inspection and flight calibration tests to be conducted ahead of the runway’s launch in May.
