Brazilian carriers handle 77.4m pax in 2013, see sharp 18% drop in int'l pax: ABEAR
Brazilian Association of Airlines (ABEAR) reported (21-Jan-2014) Brazilian carriers handled 77.4 million passengers in 2013. ABEAR noted carriers saw a "weaker than normal" 1H2013 but recovered in 2H2013, but experienced sharp 18.8% year-on-year fall in international passengers. ABEAR technical consultant Adalberto Febeliano attributed this drop in international passengers to the impact of a devaluation in the BRL, which subsequently impacted travel plans.
