Aer Lingus statement on industrial action within the IAA

Direct News Source

20-Jan-2010 Aer Lingus has voiced its dissatisfaction and disappointment at the disruption caused to its customers by today's Industrial Action within the Irish Aviation Authority (IAA). The action has resulted in the cancellation of 64 flights with over 7,000 passengers' travel plans disrupted.

Aer Lingus Corporate Affairs Director, Enda Corneille explained the airlines disappointment at such action, "It is regrettable that so many of our customers' travel plans have been disrupted today and the country's airports have been brought to a standstill. This comes at a time when the aviation industry is struggling to keep its head above water with traffic down globally some 20 per cent. We recognise the strong stance taken by the IAA and their need to achieve cost savings given the scale of the down turn in aviation industry and we are calling on Impact and the Air Traffic Controllers to call off this unnecessary action and resume normal operations."
