Stockholm-Arlanda Airport: More air travellers and higher tourism revenue

Direct News Source

08-Jul-2010 In June, the number of air travellers at Stockholm-Arlanda Airport grew by almost 5 per cent compared to June last year. International air travellers increased most, up 6 per cent, while domestic air travellers increased by 1 per cent.

"June is generally a strong month for aviation. In that month, there are many people on holiday who travel to meet friends and family in other countries. At the same time, many choose a later holiday, which means that there are still many business travellers," says Anders Bredfell, Press Relations Manager at Stockholm-Arlanda.

In all, 1,610,623 people chose to fly into and out of Stockholm-Arlanda in June. Of these, 1,269,925 flew international and 340,698 flew domestic.

"It is of course especially exciting that the number of air travellers continues to rise given the latest report from the Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth (Tillväxtverket), which showed that total tourism revenue increased by about six per cent to 251.7 billion Swedish kronor in 2009. It is clear that air travel is a large part of this increase in leisure and business travel," says Mr Bredfell.
