Irkut Corporation's nine months to Sep-2010 revenue up 45%

Irkut Corporation reported (21-Mar-2011) a 45% year-on-year increase in revenue to USD1203 million and an operating profit of USD158.7 million and net profit of USD93.4 million for the nine months ended 30-Sep-2010 under the International Financial Reporting Standards. [more]

  Russia’s largest passenger carrier Aeroflot is entering 2012 with a clear aim in sight of achieving 36% market share in Russia by 2015 and 40% market share by 2020. This goal is looking increasingly achievable as the planned takeover of more Russian regional carriers will give it a 33% share of capacity in the market.

  Fleet expansion at Aeroflot is planned to ensure further increases in market share over the next several years. The flag carrier’s outlook for 2012 and beyond is also looking bright after recording strong results for the nine months ending Sep-2011.

  Aeroflot initially revealed on Oct-2011 plans to increase its market share to 36.3% by 2015, 40.4% by 2020 and 45.4% by 2025. To meet these goals, Aeroflot is increasing its expenditure over the next several years. In 2012, there will be further aircraft acquisitions and network development, both internationally and domestically.

  In spite of high oil prices and a Europe-wide economic recession Ryanair further distanced itself from its full service peers and reported a remarkable 25% increase in net profit for FY2011/12 to a record EUR503 million. Operating profit lifted 40% year-on-year to EUR683.2 million. Much to the annoyance and envy of Lufthansa and certainly Air France-KLM Group, which both recorded a deterioration of their financial performance in the most recent financial year, Ryanair improved its net margin by 1ppt to 12% and was able to maintain its operating margin at 14%. This is well above the EBIT margin performance of Europe’s full service carriers. Air France-KLM’s operating margin was negative in FY2011 while Lufthansa Group’s adjusted operating margin came in a 3% and IAG’s operating margin also reached a meagre 3%.
