Formerly known as Japan Air Charter, JALways is an airline base at Tokyo Narita and Kansai International airports in Japan. Owned by the JAL Group, JALways' operations include both scheduled and non-scheduled international services to lower-yielding holiday destinations in Australia, Thailand, USA, Indonesia, Vietnam and India. JALways uses a fleet of aircraft that include Boeing 747, 777 and 767 aircraft which are wet-leased from JAL. JALways, which has tended to operate JAL's low-yielding, thinner international routes, may have a bigger future in the wake of JAL's reorganisation. It is expected that JAL will focus on its higher-yielding, business routes, while transferring others to its lower-cost subsidiaries JALways and JAL Express.

Japan Airlines to focus on internal restructure, talks with Delta Air Lines and American deferred

Japan Airlines (JAL) has reportedly deferred talks with Delta Air Lines and American Airlines over possible equity investments. This will allow JAL (and the government) to focus on developing a restructuring plan with a government-backed task force, according to the Kyodo newspaper.
