Copenhagen Kastrup Airport, founded in 1925, is owned and operated by Copenhagen Airports A/S, a listed company which also owns and operates Roskilde airports. In addition, Copenhagen Airports A/S is engaged in international activities at Newcastle International Airport in the UK. It sold its stake in Mexico's ITA SA (Inversiones y Tecnicas Aeroportuarias SA de CV - ITA) in Jun-2010 and China's Hainan Meilan Airport in Jun-2007.
In October 1990, Copenhagen Airports A/S (CPH) took over the ownership and operation of the two airports at Kastrup and Roskilde. Until then, the airports had been owned by the Danish government and operated by the Copenhagen Airports Authority, a public corporation under the Danish Ministry of Transport. The public limited company was wholly owned by the Danish government, but in 1994 the government sold 25% of the shares to private investors. At the same time, CPH was listed on the Copenhagen Stock Exchange. In 1996 and 2000 respectively, the Danish government sold another 24% and 17% of its shares in the company.
At 31-Dec-2008, CPH’s share capital comprised a total of DKK 784,807,000. The Danish government holds a 39.2% stake in CPH, Ontario Teacher's Pension Plan (OTPP) holds a 39% stake (following a Jul-2011 asset swap with MAp), with no other shareholder holdings more than 5% of CPH's share capital. Most of CPH’s approximately 1,700 employees are shareholders in the company.
Copenhagen Kastrup Airport features in CAPA's Global Airport Investors Database.
