Memmingen Airport (also known as Allgäu Airport and Munich West Airport) is an international airport near the city of Memmingen, Germany. The airport serves the Swabia region and is located about 110km west of the Munich metropolitan area, and is often marketed as a low-cost alternative to Munich Airport. Ryanair may have to repay millions of euros as Germany’s highest court ruled fees it has received to operate from airports may amount to subsidies in breach of EU competition rules. Lufthansa and airberlin have been awarded the right to pursue legal action accordingly. Together with the other difficulties the Irish airline faces in Germany could this be the beginning of the end for its operations there? Or might there be even more significant outcomes?

Ryanair plans new bases at Leeds Bradford and Malta

Ryanair recently announced plans to expand its bases, adding another in the UK and one in Malta. The move supports the carrier’s recent announcements of capacity cut backs at Manchester, London Stansted and Dublin International Airports.
