Seville Airport (also known as San Pablo Airport) is an international airport serving the city of Seville and the surrounding Andalusia region in southern Spain. Seville is the largest city and economic centre of the region, and is the second-busiest airport in the region, behind Málaga, a major tourist destination. The airport is served predominantly by European low-cost carriers, with Vueling and Ryanair major operators at Seville.

Air Malta troubles worsen as unions flex muscle and LCCs grow
Air Malta’s troubles have become more acute as the struggling carrier’s unions increase their opposition to large-scale redundancies. Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi has stated the present situation is increasingly worrying, particularly in light of the EUR77 million the government has poured into the airline since Jun-2011.
Sydney's second airport still an endangered species as taskforce reviews options and costs
In Sep-2010, Australia’s Department of Infrastructure and Transport released a tender to finance firms to provide modelling on five different scenarios for a second Sydney airport: how they would be paid for and how well they would cater for transport needs in 10, 25 and 50 years. But a second Sydney Airport still looks as far away as ever.
Adios Abertis Airports?
The Barcelona-based Abertis Infraestructuras, one of the major European infrastructure conglomerates along with Ferrovial, Dragados y Construcciones (also of Spain), Atlantia (Italy) and Vinci (France) is the subject of a potential buyout involving CVC Capital Partners one of the world’s five leading private equity firms. It is being suggested that ‘non-core’ assets might be sold off. Could they include the airports?
Vueling’s 2010 expected to beat 2009 results, but it won’t be smooth flying
Vueling maintained its guidance for an improved net profit in 2010 upon the release of its financial results for the three months ended Mar-2010 (1Q2010). This is despite the negative effects of the recent European airspace closures, which resulted in 482 cancelled services affecting 72,249 passengers, and the sovereign debt crisis enveloping Spain, Greece and Portugal. The carrier previously guided that it “expects to report even better results in 2010 than in 2009,” noting that more than 60% of the merger synergies between Vueling and Iberia’s LCC subsidiary, clickair, would be experienced in 2010.
Ryanair's negotiations with Boeing break down
Ryanair stated negotiations with Boeing regarding an order for 200 aircraft, for delivery between 2013 and 2015, have broken down, due to the manufacturer changing the delivery conditions for the aircraft, adding an order is now “highly unlikely to happen”.
Vueling expecting to report improved results in 2010
Vueling expects to report improved financial and traffic results in 2010, follwing its merger with Clickair earlier this year, with 60% of the expected merger synergies expected to be accrued in 2010.
