Tenerife-Sur Airport

Tenerife South Airport is an international airport serving the Spanish island of Tenerife, a major tourist destination in the Canary Islands. Tenerife South is the larger of the two airports serving the island, with Tenerife North Airport the smaller. Tenerife South is served by over 50 airlines around the year, the vast majority of which low-cost and charter carriers, with Ryanair, Air Berlin, Condor, Thomas Cook and Thomson Airways the larger operators at the airport.

ACI International Director General, Angela Gittens World airports report encouraging 1Q2010 traffic trends, though volcano effect expected in April

Worldwide passenger traffic rose by 7.6% in Mar-2010 year-on-year and by 6.1% for the first quarter, according to the latest figures from Airports Council International (ACI). The freight resurgence continued, with a 25.6% rise in total volumes in Mar-2010, led by a 32.4% surge in international freight, while domestic volumes rose 14.6%.

easyJet CEO, Andrew Harrison easyJet keeps rolling out the expansion plans, for now

On 09-Dec-2009, Andy Harrison, CEO of easyJet handed in his resignation, effective Jun-2010. He is only the second CEO the airline has had. The airline was quick to emphasise that his departure was specifically not connected with this year’s board challenges to his leadership strategy.

World’s largest airport operator reports 12% passenger traffic and 21% cargo reduction in May-2009

Spain’s national airport authority, Aeropuertos Españoles y Navegación Aérea (AENA), the world’s largest airport operator, reported an 11.9% year-on-year reduction in passenger traffic (to 16.3 million passengers) in May-2009, with a steeper 20.5% reduction in cargo volumes. Aircraft movements were down 8.2% to 196,750.
