About

General Abelardo L Rodríguez International Airport, also known as Tijuana International Airport, serves the Mexican border town of Tijuana as well as the neighbouring US city of San Diego, with the pair sharing the busiest border crossing in the world. Tijuana is one of the fastest-growing cities in Mexico, and serves as a large manufacturing base for US companies. The city is the western-most and fifth-largest in the country, with the airport also being the fifth busiest in the country by passenger numbers after Mexico City, Cancun, Guadalajara and Monterrey. Volaris operates a hub at Tijuana, while Aeromexico deems it a focus city and is developing Tijuana as a hub for Asian routes. No US carriers currently serve the airport, which is located just 32km from San Diego International Airport, though a Cross Border Terminal is currently being constructed. The terminal will feature parking, check-in and customs on the US side of the border, with a bridge connecting it to the rest of Tijuana Airport. Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacifico (GAP) operates the facility.
