Global Alliances

oneworld

oneworld is a global airline alliance founded in Feb-1999. That brings together twelve airlines: American Airlines, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Finnair, Iberia, Japan Airlines, LAN, Malév Hungarian Airlines, Mexicana, Qantas, Royal Jordanian and S7 and around 20 affiliates including American Eagle, Dragonair, LAN Argentina, LAN Ecuador and LAN Peru.  Members designate, airberlin and Kingfisher Airlines are also scheduled to join. Between them, these airlines serve 900 airports in nearly 150 countries, with some 9,500 daily departures.

SkyTeam

SkyTeam is the second-largest global airline alliance founded in 2000 by Aeroméxico, Air France, Delta Air Lines and Korean Air. On 22-Jun-1999, Air France and Delta Air Lines signed an exclusive long-term strategic agreement that laid the foundations for a major global alliance. One year later, the CEOs of Aeromexico, Air France, Delta Air Lines and Korean Air met in New York to announce the formation of SkyTeam. At that time, the alliance offered passengers 6,402 daily flights to 451 destinations in 98 countries. It has grown to 395 million annual passengers a worldwide system of approximately 13,000 daily flights to 898 destinations in 169 countries.

SkyTeam Cargo, launched in Sep-2000, includes members Aeromexico Cargo, Air France Cargo, Alitalia Cargo, Czech Airlines Cargo, Delta Cargo, KLM Cargo and Korean Air Cargo. The airlines' cargo divisions partnered to provide customers with access to a global route network, standardized operational processes and 'one roof' warehouse handling services.

Star Alliance

The Star Alliance was established in 1997 as the first global airline alliance to “to better meet the needs of the frequent international traveller”. The Star Alliance is the world's largest global alliance.
