United Technologies Corporation (UTC) is a multinational conglomerate headquartered in Hartford, Connecticut. UTC, through its subsidiary companies, has interests in a variety of high-tech industries. The company is part of the Dow Jones Industrial Average index. These industries include air conditioning (Carrier), aerospace systems and industrial products (Hamilton Sundstrand), elevators and escalators (Otis), aircraft engines (Pratt & Whitney), helicopters (Sikorsky), fire and security systems (UTC Fire and Security) and power fuels cells (UTC Power). UTC is also a major military contractor and is engaged in the research and development of missile and helicopter systems.
