    Air Transat CFO Jean-François Pruneau stated (11-Jun-2026) the carrier intends to apply for the Canadian Government's Liquidity for Airline Sector Resilience (LASR) facility. As previously reported by CAPA, Canada's Minister of Finance and National Revenue François-Philippe Champagne introduced the LASR facility on 08-Jun-2026, a new loan programme through the Canada Enterprise Emergency Funding Corporation. Mr Pruneau noted the programme "would provide additional financial flexibility as we remain focused on executing our strategic priorities". [more - original PR]

    Air Transat's long term debt and deferred government grant fell to CAD320 million as at 30-Apr-2026 from CAD400 million at 31-Oct-2025, after repayments on its subordinated working capital and revolving credit facilities.1 It also moved to a net cash position of CAD70.1 million, versus net debt of CAD235.1 million at 31-Oct-2025.1 The LASR facility offered eligible Canadian airlines up to CAD150 million of repayable liquidity support, and the federal fuel excise tax was removed from 20-Apr-2026 to 07-Sep-2026.2

    Etihad Airways and Condor Flugdienst signed (11-Jun-2026) a new agreement expanding their partnership. Under the agreemnt, Condor plans to launch daily Bangkok-Abu Dhabi service using A330neo equipment from Oct-2026. This follows Condor's launch of daily Frankfurt-Abu Dhabi service with A330 equipment on 01-May-2026 and daily Berlin Brandenburg-Abu Dhabi service with A320neo equipment on 15-Jun-2026, as previously reported by CAPA. Etihad will codeshare on the services and Etihad Guest members will be able to earn and redeem miles on the services, with full Condor network redemption to follow "soon".     Airbus A350 chief engineer Miguel Llorca stated (13-Jun-2025) the company plans to begin flight tests for its A350-1000ULR aircraft in 2026. The aircraft will carry over 20,000 litres of additional fuel and will have a range of 9700nm, and is being designed to meet Qantas Airways' target of flying nonstop from London or New York to Sydney. The tests will validate the new tank and some cabin comfort enhancements, with the goal of entering service in Australia before 2027.     Qantas planned to receive its first A350-1000ULR in late 2026, with Project Sunrise flights to New York and London expected to commence in early 2027. The airline indicated that three aircraft would be required to operate daily services on these ultra long haul routes, with additional aircraft enabling further network expansion as deliveries progress. Qantas highlighted the importance of these capabilities for risk management and network flexibility1 2.

    Delta Air Lines launched (09-Jun-2026) daily Los Angeles-Hong Kong service with A350-900 equipment on 06-Jun-2026 (TRAICY, 09-Jun-2026). Cathay Pacific and United Airlines also operate the route, according to OAG. [more - original PR]

    Riyadh Air, via its official Twitter account, announced (11-Jun-2026) it commenced daily Riyadh-London Heathrow service with Boeing 787 equipment on 10-Jun-2026, marking the launch of the airline's scheduled operations (Reuters, 11-Jun-2026). As previously reported by CAPA, the airline has a fleet of three 787s and plans to commence services connecting Riyadh to Jeddah, Dubai, Cairo, Madrid and Manchester in Jun/Jul-2026. Riyadh Air CEO Tony Douglas reported the airline expects to expand its fleet to eight aircraft by the end of Jul-2026 and expand its network to 22 destinations by Mar-2027.

    Uganda Airlines, via its official Facebook account, announced (10-Jun-2026) it signed a commitment with Boeing to acquire eight new passenger aircraft, as well as one 767 converted freighter and one 737BCF. The proposed acquisition will increase Uganda Airlines' capacity to serve regional, continental and international markets.

    Boeing CEO Kelly Ortberg confirmed (05-Jun-2026) plans to open a new 737 MAX production line in Everett, Washington on 06-Jul-2026. Mr Ortberg stated: "We're adding another production line which is really a carbon copy of what you see here in Renton". Boeing's three existing 737 production lines in Renton will support production growth from 42 to 47 aircraft per month in summer 2026. Mr Ortberg said teams are using the company's Safety & Quality Plan to guide the activation of the North Line, which will complement the existing lines and add capacity for production rates of more than 47 aircraft per month. He added: "We're not going to push airplanes out the door if we're not stable and the production system isn't producing a high-quality product", noting: "We'll move when the production system says we're ready to move".     Boeing CEO Kelly Ortberg said Boeing completed a capstone review with the US FAA to lift 737 MAX output from 42 to 47 per month, and it began running the line at the 47-rate with a stabilisation period of a few months.1 He cautioned that a subsequent move to 52 per month could strain inventory, and said part of any further increase depended on capacity from the new Everett line.1

    Emirates president Tim Clark announced (09-Jun-2026) the airline "is ready to bring daily widebody connectivity to Berlin and Stuttgart and connect them with our extensive network, backed by substantial investment", subject to approval from Germany's Federal Ministry of Transport. Sir Tim noted: "These are two of Germany's most important economic centres, yet both remain underserved when it comes to long-haul connectivity", adding: "German businesses have told us they need it, the Berlin Chamber of Commerce has called for it, our own data confirms the demand is there and flights are forecast to be full". He concluded: "All we are asking for is the opportunity to serve these cities and their communities, and we remain committed to working constructively with the German authorities to make that a reality and deliver tangible benefits that would be felt across both city regions from day one of our operations".
