Air Berlin is executing it restructuring plan well, driving a 12.9% increase in Group RASK last month. The carrier reduced capacity by 0.4% in April, but suffered a 3.4% reduction in passenger numbers to 2.17 million, resulting in a 2.4 ppts reduction in passenger load factor last month to 76.4%. The carrier, which reported an EBIT of EUR14.2 million in 2008, is however carrying the right type of passengers – dumping low yielding routes in favour of adding frequencies to key business markets.
