
China’s looming airspace squeeze

Chinese airspace is facing intense pressure from growth. China’s next five-year plan will see another tremendous expansion of the Chinese aviation industry. The 2011-2015 plan calls of the construction of 56 new airports, increasing the total in the country to 230. Another 45 are due to receive major upgrades, as Chinese airport infrastructure struggles to cope with the number of passengers and aircraft movements. [1177 words]
