Commercial revenue at Zurich Airport on the rise, shares up too

Zurich Airport reported a 5.6% increase in commercial revenue from retail, duty-free and F&B for Jan-2010, in line with a 6.5% increase in passenger traffic, although revenue per departing passenger dipped 0.9% year-on-year to EUR31.82. Shares in the airport were up 1.1% yesterday, upon the release of its traffic and commercial report for Jan-2010.

Further details from Zurich's report include (based on the conversion rate at EUR1 = CHF1.48):

  • Traffic:
    • Passenger numbers: 1.6 million, +6.5% year-on-year;
    • Cargo volume: 29,746 tonnes, +16.9%;
    • Aircraft movements: 20,736, +0.5%.
  • Commercial developments:
    • Commercial revenue (retail, duty-free and F&B): EUR25.5 million, +5.6% year-on-year;
      • Airside: +5.1%;
      • Landside: +6.0%;
    • Revenue per departing passenger: EUR31.82, -0.9%;
      • Airside: -1.3%;
      • Landside: -0.5%.

Also in Europe, passenger numbers at Vienna International Airport jumped 4.1% to 1.2 million in Jan-2010, while cargo volumes surged 30.8% to 21,226 tonnes. However, there were fewer aircraft movements in the month (18,455, -2.7%).

Australian Infrastructure Fund gains 2.0%

Shares in Australian Infrastructure Fund jumped 2.0% yesterday, with the company reporting growth in passenger traffic across its global investment airports, including Perth, Queensland Airports Ltd, Northern Territory Airports, Athens, Düsseldorf, Hamburg and Sydney. Highlights include 3.5% growth at Dusseldorf Airport to 4.3 million passengers and 9.3% growth at Queensland Airports to 1.7 million passengers.
