
MAG, Virgin, Goldman joint bid for Gatwick?

Over the weekend of 22-23 November, media reports indicated that Virgin Atlantic’s consortium bid for London Gatwick Airport has been enhanced by teaming up with Manchester Airports Group (MAG) and possibly with Goldman Sachs’ investment fund. MAG has been unsuccessful in setting up its own consortium and sourcing financing. This development, if it comes off and is successful in a bid, could have implications for how long haul air service develops throughout the UK. [1069 words]
