Mexico’s ASUR drops despite soaring traffic

4th June, 2010

Shares in Mexican airport operator Grupo Aeroportuario del Sureste (ASUR) fell 2.8% yesterday, despite it reporting an 86% increase in passenger numbers last month.

ASUR stated the increase reflects better year-over-year comparisons, as May-2009 figures were impacted by the H1N1 Influenza outbreak in Mexico”. ASUR’s highlights for May-2010 were as follows:

  • Passenger numbers: 1.4 million, +85.8% year-on-year;
  • Domestic: 610,468, +42.7%;
  • International: 768,029, +144.5%.

Elsewhere, OMA eased 0.8%, while GAP’s shares remain suspended over changes to its Board of Directors.
