Mihin Lanka resumes operations

Premium Analysis

In early Jan-09, Sri Lanka's state owned "budget airline", Mihin Lanka, resumed operations with six times weekly Colombo-Dubai service. The carrier, which suspended operations in Apr-08, after rapidly burning through its start-up capital, also announced plans to operate Colombo-Trivandrum and Colombo-Trichi services by end of Jan-09, and Colombo-Bodhgaya services by mid Feb-09. Itinerant workers and religious pilgrims heavily demand these sectors.
