Portugal-Spain FAB nears reality

Portugal and Spain signed (17-Mar-09) an MoU to develop a single sky, through the creation of a Functional Airspace Block (FAB) between the two countries. The agreement comes as the EU builds up towards creating a single European sky, with the approval of the second ‘Single European Sky’ (SES II) package, effective 25-Mar-09. Once completed, the Spain-Portugal FAB will represent more than 25% of European airspace and 11% of European traffic. [501 words]
