
Southwest Airlines enjoying healthy load factor gains

Southwest reported 3% year-on-year decline in passenger traffic in Aug-2009, to 7.5 million passengers, while traffic (RPMs) increased 1%, on a 6.1% reduction in capacity. This resulted in a 5.6 ppts increase in load factor for the month, to 80.2% - the second consecutive month of very healthy load factor gains for the LCC. [1481 words]
