The world's low-cost carriers (LCC) are a force to be reckoned with, commanding a 23.1% share of weekly seats worldwide, up from 22.6% this time last year. The world's biggest LCC is the grand-daddy of the sector, Southwest Airlines, growing its capacity this month by a spritely 9.4% year-on-year. Next biggest is Ryanair, which is now roughly 70% the size of Southwest, based on seats per week, and growing its capacity by a jaw-dropping 22.9% this month.
