
State of Emergency: Thai aviation in crisis

Thailand's Prime Minister, Samak Sundaravej, declared a state of emergency yesterday amid mounting protests (that has seen the closure of three airports over the weekend (including Phuket) and now Had Yai). The stock market is in reverse, the Thai baht continues to devalue (falling a further 0.5% yesterday against the US dollar) – and travelers are deferring holidays to Thailand, as foreign governments issue travel warnings.
