AAT announces tonnage throughput for March 2012

AAsia Airfreight Terminal Co Ltd (AAT) announced that its tonnage throughput in March 2012 was 65,929 tonnes, recording a growth of 4% compared with the same period last year.

Export cargo registered 47,270 tonnes, a growth of 5% when compared with the same month last year. Import cargo volume for March was 18,114 tonnes, up 4% year on year. Trans-shipment cargo volume was 545 tonnes, a drop of 21% when compared against corresponding period in 2011.

Cumulative export tonnage from January to March 2012 was 113,665 tonnes, a slight growth of 0.1% against same period last year. Total import tonnage for first quarter was 53,181 tones, representing a 5% year on year growth. Transshipment cargo volume since the beginning of the year was 1,553 tones, a reduction of 19% against same period last year.

AAT General Manager for Corporate Development, Mr. Kenneth Yeung said, "The tonnage in March 2012 saw slight improvements. Nevertheless, we are cautious of the challenges ahead. AAT is fully-geared to help our customer airlines maintain their competitive edge."
