11-Oct-2011 New Zealanders will be able to fly in an A380 superjumbo all the way from Auckland to Germany earlier than expected.

Emirates is bringing forward its first daily A380 service to Germany by serving Munich from November 25, nearly five weeks earlier than originally scheduled.

The double decker was initially set to replace EK 49, one of two daily services to Munich, from January 1, 2012.

"Emirates is the first foreign carrier to bring the A380 back to Germany," said Salem Obaidalla, the airline's Senior Vice President, Commercial Operations, Europe & Russian Federation. "After further reviewing our forthcoming A380 deliveries and expected demand, we have decided to bring forward its deployment to Munich by more than a month, which is excellent news for one of our most important markets."

EK 49 departs Dubai at 9.10am and gets into Munich at 12.45pm, providing direct connections at Dubai with all four daily Emirates services from New Zealand.

With its trademark onboard shower spas and onboard lounge, the Emirates A380 continues to draw attention around the world.

Since September 1, Emirates has gone from one to two flights per day to Hamburg, taking to 56 its total number of weekly passenger flights to Germany.

In Frankfurt, the current double daily service will be enhanced with an extra four flights per week as of October 30, becoming a triple daily operation from December 1.

Emirates SkyCargo has 11 weekly freighter flights to Germany.
