10-Dec-2011 As autumn arrives, Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC) has registered record breaking numbers in its monthly traffic reports. The October traffic report released today indicates that Abu Dhabi International Airport has exceeded the one million passenger number for the fourth consecutive month this year setting a new traffic record for the airport.

The Capital's international gateway recorded a total of 1.06 million passengers passing through its facility during the month of October to register a 17.2% increase in traffic in comparison with the same month last year.

This recent increase in passenger traffic is credited to new airline launches as well as new destinations introduced this year. Double digit growth was also recorded in cargo movements, which saw an 11% mark up this October in comparison with October last year due to the increased Etihad cargo volume.

Commenting on the airport's performance, Harib Al Hameli, Vice President Operations- Abu Dhabi International Airport, stated: "We are delighted to witness the positive performance of the capital's airport as it establishes itself as a trend that is improving throughout the year. We are continuously eager to develop and grow our services and offerings in line with the anticipated growth in business and tourism travel, as Abu Dhabi continues to position itself as a key international destination for trade and leisure."

The recent refurbishment works in T1 included complete developments of the facility with increased number of self check-in kiosks, and check-in and immigration counters, and improved customer services throughout the airport, to cater for the continuous growth.

With regards to top destinations during this month, London, Doha, Bangkok, Manila and Frankfurt were listed as the top 5 destinations for October 2011.
