Application for Renewal of an Exemption
Sunwing Airlines Inc. hereby applies for renewal of its temporary exemption from 49 U.S.C § 41302 by which Sunwing is currently authorized to perform transborder scheduled and charter flights carrying persons, property and mail between any point or points in Canada and any point or points in the United States.
Sunwing requests that the foregoing exemption authority be renewed for a period of two years, through August 14, 2011, or until 90 days after final action by the Department on a forthcoming application by Sunwing for a Foreign Air Carrier Permit pursuant to 49 U.S.C. § 41302 authorizing the same broad-scope transborder scheduled and charter operations, whichever occurs first.
Sunwing currently operates two leased Stage 3 Boeing 737-800 aircraft, each configured to carry 189 passengers. Sunwing's current operations consist primarily of scheduled and ad hoc passenger charter flights between points in Canada and points in vacation destinations in the United States and points in the Caribbean.
