Air France stated (03-Feb-2012) it expects to operate over 85% of long-haul services and over 80% of medium-haul services on 06-Feb-2012, the first day of strike action at the carrier which will run through 09-Feb-2012. The carrier did not provide a forecast for cancellations of domestic services, and will provide forecasts of cancellations on the other days closer to the time. The carrier has said passengers with tickets booked over the period can reschedule without charge. The strike action involves pilots, cabin crew and other personnel at the carrier who are protesting government labour reforms in a four-day walkout. The bill, put forward by President Nicolas Sarkozy's party, would require aviation workers to give more notice of industrial action. Unions say the bill, which has already passed through the lower house, would affect workers' rights.
