Iraq’s Civil Aviation Director Nasser Hussein Badr stated the Al-Nasr Company, a privately-owned Iraqi firm, will operate direct services between London and Baghdad from early Nov-2010 (AFP/Gulf Today, 29-Oct-2010). Mr Badr stated the company plans to lease a B737 aircraft from an European firm to operate on the route. Nasr’s announcement came on the same day Aigle Azur operated its first of a planned twice-weekly Paris-Baghdad service marking the first service to be operated by Baghdad for a European airline in 20 years.
