Auckland Airport to combine customs, immigration and security checks

New Zealand Customs Service group manager border operations Anne Marie Taggart, speaking at the CAPA Airport Innovation Day Summit, said (03-Aug-2016) Auckland International Airport aims to be the first in the world to deliver a combined customs, immigration and security checkpoint service. Ms Taggart said new technology enables the customs service to process passengers at the airport in 30 seconds, requiring the queuing process to be slowed to avoid creating a bottleneck at the security check beyond customs. Ms Taggart said the customs service is also looking at better biometric technology and less invasive processes for capturing biometric data.
