BOC Aviation CEO sees fundamental change in airfreight, overcapacity to end

BOC Aviation CEO and MD Robert Martin, speaking at the CAPA Asia Aviation Summit, reported (15-Nov-2016) fundamental change in the airfreight market due to growing bellyhold capacity in widebody fleets and the expansion of package and parcel freight. Mr Martin said there are, "too many freighters flying" but noted few remaining orders and predicted an end of overcapacity in the near future. Indigo Partners co-founder and managing partner William Franke said "redistribution" cargo carriers are performing best, supported by dramatic growth in the package business.
