Canberra Airport reveals new international terminal ahead of SIA's arrival

Canberra Airport, via its official Facebook account, announced (16-Sep-2016) the official opening of its international terminal. As previously reported by CAPA, the 2750sqm public departure lounge and 2400sqm arrival hall can accommodate up to one million passengers p/a and is fitout to resemble an airline lounge rather than the standard airport departure hall. The terminal was developed to accommodate Singapore Airlines' inaugural Singapore-Canberra-Wellington service on 21-Sep-2016. Airport MD Stephen Byron admit the fitout exceeded the AUD18 million (USD13.5 million) budget, "but it is pretty hard to budget within the period we had, we just had to get it done".
