Chengdu Tianfu International Airport project outlined in feasibility report

China's National Development and Reform Commission confirmed (25-Apr-2016) it approved New Chengdu Airport feasibility study report. Details include:

  • Capacity: 40 million passengers, 700,000 tonnes of cargo and 320,000 movements p/a by 2025;
  • Construction work:
    • The airport will have three runways: West runway will be constructed as a category 4F standard measuring 4000m x 60m and will be 2400m from East runway, which will be constructed as a category 4E standard measuring 3200m x 45m. North runway will be constructed as a category 4E standard runway measuring 3800m x 45m;
    • 600,000sqm terminal building;
    • Apron with 202 spaces;
    • 80,000sqm integrated transportation centre;
    • 170,000sqm parking building;
    • ATC: Two air traffic control towers, 28,000sqm of airport ATC support premise and 27,500sqm of terminal space control centre;
    • Oil supply: One oil terminal, four 20,000 cubic metre air tanks, five gas stations, 33.2km of pipeline refueling aerodrome;
    • Airline airport base: airport bases for Air China, Sichuan Airlines, China Eastern Airlines and Lucky Air;
  • Investment: Total investment will be CNY71,864 million (USD11,977 million);
    • Airport construction: CNY51,182 million (USD8530 million), of which CNY2500 million (USD417 million) will come from the Central Government budget, CNY8000 million (USD1333) will be from the Civil Aviation Development Fund. The remaining funds will be provided by the provincial government (20%), Chengdu city government (60%) and Sichuan Provincial Airport Group (20%);
    • ATC: Expected to cost CNY2667 million (USD444.5 million) and will come from Civil Aviation Development Fund;
    • Oil supply: Expected to cost CNY1895 million (USD315.8 million) and to be supplied by China Aviation Oil Holding;
