European network: an expected 500 million euro improvement in operating income

03-Dec-2009 The plan to redesign the short and medium-haul product should enable the Air France KLM Group to improve its operating result by 500 million euros by 2011-2012 and sustain the economic balance of this network.

This 500 million euro profit will be reached through:

* improved revenue thanks in particular to new market share on the mid-range fare segment,
* reduced costs through new ways of working in the areas of handling at stations, logistics and catering, and in increasing seat numbers on the domestic fleet,
* and adjustments to the network. Without affecting the quality of our schedules or feeding our hubs, the aim here is to rationalize frequencies on the most popular destinations to increase aircraft size and lower costs.

Beyond this 500 million euro profit, Air France wants to start talks with the crew union representatives to set the conditions to return to profitable growth on the short and medium-haul network
