Direct News Source

23-Dec-2009 DFW International Airport expects a slightly busier holiday travel season for the Christmas and New Year’s Day travel period to close 2009. The Airport is projecting about 2.8 million passengers between Friday, December 18 and Monday, January 4, 2010, up 2.9 percent from last year.

"DFW is continuing to see growth in our passenger numbers, and that's a great sign," said Jeff Fegan, CEO of DFW. "The Airport will continue to grow by providing a top-notch travel experience to travelers, and by keeping our costs down to making this a great place for airlines to operate."

DFW is also rolling out several amenities and promotions to holiday travelers:

- DFW parking information is now available on the free TripCase application for mobile phones. Passengers can access information on parking lot availability, and record their parking space information in a "Notes" section of the application. Developed by Sabre for the iPhone, Windows Mobile and BlackBerry platforms, TripCase is a free download at www.tripcase.com or at the iTunes App Store.

"TripCase gives passengers the opportunity to keep all their travel information in one place on their phone and view any updates to their schedules in real-time," said Joe Lopano, Executive Vice President of Marketing and Terminal Management for DFW. "DFW is proud to continue our partnership with Sabre and be at the forefront of innovation and customer service in the aviation industry."

The application will continue to offer travelers the option of tracking airline, hotel and car rental information, as well as gate and baggage claim changes, retail and restaurant offerings within their terminal and to receive updates automatically.

"We are thrilled to expand our partnership and provide TripCase users with up-to-date parking information from DFW International Airport," said John Samuel, Senior Vice President Sabre Travel Studios. "Relevant services, like parking availability at your fingertips, continue to make TripCase one of the most popular travel apps out there."

- Passengers traveling through DFW this holiday season who find any of the Express or Remote parking lots full will receive a coupon to park for $10 a day either in the Terminal lots or with the DFW Airport Valet service.

- DFW has added to its line of sophisticated Zoom automated retail units, installing two machines that carry the renowned Sephora line of health and beauty products.

- DFW is offering 17 new Free Power/Free Internet workstations located in all five terminals. They feature USB and AC power outlets, wired Internet connectivity and 2 computer workstations at each site, all free of charge.

- DFW this week brings back the popular SantaTracker web site (www.dfwairport.com/santatracker), which helps track the movements of Santa and his reindeer. The SantaTracker site features interactive games and holiday web links for families to enjoy. In addition to the web-based games, surfers can view a virtual reality of Santa's landing at DFW, send holiday e-cards and get travel tips.
