VINCI continues strategy aimed at growth in airport sector
04-Jan-2010 • VINCI, through its subsidiary, VINCI Airports, now holds 99% of the capital of the operating companies of four regional airports in France following the acquisition of the stakes previously owned by Keolis;
• VINCI Airports has signed a public service contract for the Rennes-Saint Jacques and Dinard-Pleurtuit airports for a period of almost 15 years.
VINCI Airports, France's leading private airport operator, has made a new step forward in its growth strategy:
* On 31 December 2009, VINCI Airports increased its holding in the operating companies of the Grenoble-Isère, Chambéry-Savoie, Clermont Ferrand-Auvergne and Quimper-Cornouaille airports from 50% to 99%. Total annual traffic for these four airports in 2009 was 1.2 million passengers.
With this move, VINCI Airports can accelerate operational synergies among these airports, especially with regards to relations with airline companies and operational management, for the benefit of delegating authorities and customers. VINCI Airports' goal is to help boost the regions' economic and tourism development.
* On 4 January 2010, the consortium comprising VINCI Airports (49%), the Rennes Chamber of Commerce and Industry (consortium leader with 50%) and the Pays de Saint Malo CCI (1%) signed a public service contract for the Rennes-Saint Jacques and Dinard-Pleurtuit airports with Brittany's Regional Council.
The contract, covering a period of 14 years and 10 months, will come into effect on 1 March 2010. It includes the operation, upkeep, maintenance and investment in modernising the airports (passenger terminals, runways and facilities). All the airports' personnel (160 employees) will be hired by the operating company of the Rennes and Dinard airports. Business at these two airports represented annual traffic of 555,000 passengers in 2009.
