BOC Aviation has signed agreements with Air Berlin for the purchase and leaseback of three new Boeing 737-800 scheduled for delivery in February, July and August this year. All three aircraft are powered by CFM56-7B24/3 engines.

Ulf Hüttmeyer, Chief Financial Officer of Air Berlin, said the airline was planning for a slight growth this year and needed additional aircraft also to replace expiring leases. "We aim to maintain a modern fleet and are pleased to cooperate with BOC Aviation, our partner since 2001, to take delivery of these new aircraft."

"Air Berlin is the second largest airline in Germany with a 30-year history," said Steven Townend, Deputy Managing Director and Chief Commercial Officer of BOC Aviation. "Our two companies have already come a long way together and these deals ensure that our relationship will continue to thrive."
