LAN Airlines Update On Status Of Flight Operations To/From Santiago, Chile

Joint efforts are being undertaken with the Ministry of Public Works, the Civil Aeronautics Administration and the terminal concessionary in order to resume operations as soon as possible.

  • All domestic, within Chile, and International, to and from Santiago de Chile, flight itineraries, until Thursday, March 4th, 2010 (inclusive), will be modified.
  • LAN will be publishing a new contingency itinerary to procect passengers with booked and issued tickets from Saturday, February 27th until Thursday, March 4th operating within Chile and international flights to and from Santiago. This new itinerary will start operating from today, Monday, March 1st, in a restricted manner and its implementation will improve as airport facilites allow it.
  • Passengers who have booked and issued tickets for flights between Saturday, February 27th and Thursday, March 4th, operating within Chile and international flights to and from Santiago, will have to contact LAN's Call Center 1 800 558 129, so that they can be booked in this new itinerary. All passengers will be boarded, we are asking to have a bit of patience since operations will increase gradually.
  • Flights of this new itinerary are available in the itinerary table listed below. You must call LAN's Call Center 1 800 558 129so that you can be booked in one of these flights. As of now, there are no other scheduled flights besides those listed in said itinerary table, as new flights are scheduled they will be published immediately in this press release.
  • Flights within Chile and international flights to and from Santiago, until Sunday, March 7th, will be closed for sale, in order to prioritize solving problems for passenger flights with previous bookings.
  • Flight operations from Friday, March 5th onwards is being evaluated and information will be given within the next few hours.
  • The rest of LAN's operation (domestic flights within Peru, Argentina, Ecuador and international flights that don't leave or arrive in Santiago) will continue to operate normally.
  • We ask all passengers who have flights leaving after Sunday, March 7th, to not call our Call Center in order to prevent our telephone lines to become saturated, hence, allowing us to provide a better service to all passengers who must fly within the next 48 hours.

    Affected passengers that already initiated their trip:

    - Change will be allowed for their returning flight, to fly up to March 30, with no penalties or fare differences subject to availability on the cabin (Regardless de original restriction on the ticket)
    - For passengers returning after March 30, fare differences will apply, with no penalty, subject to availability of the fare class within the fare validity, with no charge and regardless of the fare regulation.

    Affected passengers that have not initiated their trip:

    - Change will be allowed for their flight, to fly up to March 30, with no penalties or fare differences subject to availability on the cabin (Regardless de original restriction on the ticket).
    - For passengers flying after March 30, fare differences will apply, with no penalty, subject to availability of the fare class within the fare validity, with no charge and regardless of the fare regulation.
    - In Domestic Flights within Chile, it will be allowed to fly the returning flight, with the original booking, even when the departing flight has not being flown.

    Passengers on not affected flights:

    Passengers with initiated trips, with origin or destinations in Chile, can anticipate their return to fly up to March 30, subject to cabin availability, with no penalty or fare difference.

    According to Chilean legislation, passengers that request a full refund of their tickets for domestic flights within Chile will be eligible for involuntary refund free of penalties, regardless of the place of emission and/or fare regulations.
