British Airways cabin crew strike - information for cargo customers

Direct News Source

12-Mar-2010 Unite, the trade union that represents British Airways' (BA) cabin crew, has announced its intention to call for industrial action on 20 March 2010 for three days and another four days from 27 March 2010.

Although we believe that the threat of strike action by Unite is highly regrettable and completely unjustified, we have been formulating contingency plans to protect our operations since the first threat of strike action was announced in December of last year. As a result, we expect to run a significant part of our operations normally:

The full long haul programme and a significant part of the short haul programme from London Gatwick will operate;

A significant part of the Heathrow flying programme will operate as normal (the detailed schedule will be finalised soon);

The long haul freighter programme will not be affected;

The short haul freighter programme will run with a few changes; and

Our trucking operation will also operate normally

We will announce the finalised schedule as soon as possible. We are already working through the implications on your bookings. If they are affected, your local BA World Cargo representative will contact you to make alternative arrangements for your consignment as soon as possible.
