Air Berlin resumes first long-haul flights
19-Apr-2010 Earlier today Air Berlin resumed limited flight operations and is now carrying out the first long-haul flights as well.
Air Berlin will be operating the following scheduled long-haul flights today:
AB7160 TXL-BKK
AB7161 BKK-TXL
AB7164 MUC-HKT
AB7165 HKT-MUC
AB7232 MUC-MLE
AB7233 MLE-MUC
These flights have been made possible since DFS (Deutsche Flugsicherung) and LBA (German Federal Aviation Office) have decided that controlled VFR passenger flights can be resumed in Germany. Using these visual flight rules, the first Air Berlin flight returning stranded passengers from Palma de Mallorca landed in Munich at 15:23 hours. More aircraft are already approaching their destination. Further flights for today are currently being planned.
If there is no change in weather conditions, this procedure will also be applied to Air Berlin's schedule tomorrow.
