19-Apr-2010 Air Malta cancels London and Munich flights for tomorrow - Update 14

A volcanic ash cloud currently extending from Iceland, to the UK, Scandinavia and moving down to central Europe including parts of Russia is causing huge disruptions to flights scheduled to operate in European airspace.

Due to this cloud, parts of European airspace have been shut down affecting airlines that operate through these parts.

Today Monday, 19th April, Air Malta will be operating the following extra relief flights:

KM3514 dep Malta 1355hrs arr Graz 1610hrs Extra Flight

KM3517 dep Graz 1915hrs arr Malta 2130hrs

KM3466 dep Malta 1700hrs arr Marseille 1915hrs Extra Flight

On the same note, Air Malta today (Monday) operated the following scheduled flights: KM784/5 to Istanbul, KM668/9 to Palermo, KM612/3 to Reggio and Rome Fiumicino, KM1308/9 to Catania, KM696/7 to Tripoli and KM614/5 to Rome.

Due to the fact that there was no improvement in the situation Air Malta was constrained to cancel the following flights tomorrow (Tuesday) morning: KM100/1 to London Heathrow, KM7412/3 to Vilnius and Paphos, KM116/7 to London Gatwick, KM306/7 to Munich and KM5762/3 to Inverness and Teesside

Air Malta will be operating more extra relief flights tomorrow over and above its normal schedule subject to the lifting of airspace restrictions and flight slots confirmed. These flights will be communicated as soon as slots are confirmed.

Air Malta is closely monitoring the situation and will advise its passengers of any changes in its flight operations as a result of these airspace restrictions on www.airmalta.com.

Air Malta is offering its passengers free re-booking on any Air Malta operated scheduled flight or full refund of ticket. For any re-booking or re-routing enquiries clients can contact Air Malta's International Call Centre on +356 21662211. The call centre will remain open until midnight and will open again for business at 0500hrs (local time).

Due to this situation, clients due to travel from Malta International Airport are advised to contact flight enquiries of the airport on tel: 5004 3333 for further information and to confirm flight arrival / departure times.
