China Airlines European services still affected by Iceland volcanic ash (20-Apr, 17:00 released)

20-Apr-2010 Most of the European airports continue to be affected by Iceland volcanic ash, some airports have resumed operation with strict conditions, which include the contamination of volcanic ash in airspace area, and should be shorthaul and lower altitude flights, and most of all should be conformed to the visual flight rule.

In consideration of flight saftey, CAL announced that all its flights to and from Europe except Rome on April 20 and 21 will be cancelled due to the continuing impact of volcanic ash on European airports.

China Airlines has resumed the operation of Taipei- Delhi-Rome-Delhi-Rome service this morning, and will transport the stranded passenger in Europe back home on the return flight. For those two grounded CAL aircrafts in Frankfurt will carry stranded passenger back to Taipei in no time as long as the airport is functioning. CAL also plan to employ the jumbo aircraft or extra flights to convey stranded passengers when as quickly as possible.

China airline regrets any inconvenience the flight disruption may cause and hopes for passengers' understanding as the service disruption is on a global scale and is caused by factors beyond the company's control, CAL will urge to resume normal service as soon as conditions is permitted.
