Direct News Source

20-Apr-2010 Air traffic resumed slowly after five days of paralysis caused by volcanic ash cloud in iceland.

Tunisair maintains its initial and planned program for this Tuesday 20th of April. In order to ensure the transport of the tourists who are on holiday in our country, Tunisair scheduled 14 charter flights, pending agreements and feasibility.

The program was created by trying to fairly share capacity and flights across markets, i.e to Belgium, France, Germany, Great Britain, Austria and Switzerland.

Tunisair has received the agreement for 2 charter flights to Basel from Monastir and Djerba.

Tunisair has also provided additional capacity on routes stretched from Paris and Marseille. Depending on the evolution of the situation a few extra rotations will be undertaken to compensate for the demands of our passengers mainly on France.

Requests for flights program was launched with the European civil aviation authorities and Tunisair should wait for the agreement. This situation is little bit hard for all the airlines which requires patience to get out of this crisis

Flights which have a return on Tunisia are Paris, Marseille, Nice, Rome, Brussels, Geneva, Vienna, Athens and Zurich.

From Djerba, Tunisair took off to Geneva, Rome and Paris

And from Monastir flights took off to Brussels and Zurich.

For this moment London is again closed, we have been informed that the airport of Frankfurt is also closed.

Yet today's flights ensured the transport of 2977 passenger

The resumption of flights will be progressive and there should be some disturbances and some delays due to this special situation. As an example, the Tunisair flight Tunis-Paris planned to take off at 11h35 am will not take off before 5h10 pm, with some restrictions.

Tunisair requests its passengers, who bought and reserved their tickets, to arrive at the airport at the scheduled time mentioned on their tickets.

Passengers who noticed that their flights are cancelled during the last days, are requested to contact the Tunisair Call Center or the Tunisair agency or their usual travel agency.

Because of this disturbance, Tunisair advises its passengers to get informed and contact the Tunisair Call Center to ensure the flight schedule (24/24) (70 838 111 - 70 101 310) or visit the Tunisair website www.tunisair.com .
